DECEMBER 2009 Willie arrived at the rescue on December 29th. He formerly served for 13 years with the Tulsa Mounted Patrol and recently retired when the unit was disbanded due to budget cuts. Thanks to the efforts of a wonderful group of people at the Hillcrest Foundation and the Tulsa Community Foundation, all of the horses were placed in screened and approved local therapeutic riding programs. Due to his age and physical issues, Willie was not a good candidate for these programs and we are honored to be able to provide a permanent home for Willie to enjoy his much deserved retirement. Willie is a sweet, personable fellow and loves attention and people, so just give us a call if you would like to come out and visit with Willie - he would love to meet you!
MAY 2010 Willie has settled in well and is now turned out in our 50 acre grazing pasture with our other "senior" residents. He quickly become the Boss of his little herd and is enjoying his retirement days full of grazing and just hanging out.
