Hobo updates...
Hobo arrived on December 9, 2008. It was hard to tell just how bad his injury was due to the dead flesh, infection and debris.
According to his previous owner, he had received the injury about two weeks prior to his arrival at the rescue.
After cleaning out some of the mess, it was pretty obvious that the cut was deep and nasty. We gave Hobo a dose of antibiotics and called our vet out to treat him.
Our vet sedated Hobo and thoroughly cleaned the wound. After a shot of banamine for pain and a fresh, clean bandage, Hobo was much more comfortable. This picture was taken after about 10 days of treatment during a dressing change.
This picture was taken after about three weeks of treatment. Slowly but surely the wound is healing. Our vet came out for a follow up progress exam and feels that Hobo is healing well and should not experience any permanent damage from the injury.
After about 6 weeks, the gap is filling in nicely. It still looks nasty, but the vet is very pleased with his progress. After about another week, we will remove the bandages and turn Hobo out with Smokey.
All healed up with only a gray scar remaining of his nasty wound.
