JULY 2011    Grace arrived at the rescue from a law enforcement seizure case involving 79 neglected animals.  Our vet exam and bloodwork determined that Grace was full of parasites, particularly strongyles, and also that she was slightly anemic, most likely due to her malnutrition and parasite load.  She also had severe dental issues including missing teeth, malformed teeth and wave mouth causing uneven chewing surfaces.  Our vet removed a tooth, ground down her molars to even them out as well as grinding her front teeth to level them out to enable Grace to have a more normal chewing motion.  She is on a supplement to boost her red blood cell production, as well being on a worming program to rid her of the parasites.  She is also on a diet of senior feed pellets, alfalfa hay, a digestive supplement and electrolytes.  Grace has also received all of her vaccinations and although she still has a long road ahead of her, we expect that Grace will bounce back and gain weight steadily now that her dental issues and parasites had been addressed.

AUGUST 2011  Grace has gained weight and is doing very well.  She is happy, healthy and full of life.  Our farrier trimmed her overgrown hooves so she is now completely up to date on everything and will soon be available for adoption.
