NOVEMBER 2009  Ella arrived at the rescue along with her 8 month old colt.  Both have injuries resulting from halters that were buckled extremely tight and left on for months.  Ella will most likely have some scarring, but should recover fine with a little TLC.  She is halter broke and handles well once caught, however at this time she is difficult to catch.  She is a registered Arabian mare and will be available for adoption as soon as her standard quarantine period is over.

JANUARY 2010  Ella has settled in and is more friendly and trusting now.  She is a beautiful mare and in excellent shape for her age.  She would make a wonderful companion horse or pasture pet and is looking for a loving forever home.

FEBRUARY 2010  Surprise!!!! Ella is expecting a baby sometime around the end of March.  We suspected she might be pregnant when her "hay belly" began moving, so we contacted a previous owner for any clues to the possibility of her expecting.  It turns out that Ella was bred to their black arabian stallion before being sold to the people who mistreated her and her weanling colt.  We are excited about the new baby and our vet will be out to do an examination and give her shots.

APRIL 2010  It's a girl!  Born at the stroke of midnight on April 1st, Ella and baby are doing well.  Ella and her little girl will be available for adoption together once the baby is a couple of months old, or they may be adopted separately once the baby is weaned in about 6 months.

MAY 2010  Ella will be going to a great new home as soon as her baby is weaned.  She will be a companion for an older, lonely arabian gelding which is the perfect job for her own retirement years.
