JANUARY 2008 Whiskey arrived at the rescue as an owner surrender. Due to his advancing age and his cribbing habit, Whiskey is a "hard keeper" which means he has difficulty maintaining a healthy weight and he requires a special diet. Whiskey is settling in well and seems to enjoy his large pasture and his new buddy, Sam, another Thoroughbred gelding here at the rescue. Whiskey is a gentle old fellow and loves attention. Because of his cribbing habit as well as his age, we feel that Whiskey may become a permanent resident here at the rescue and possibly be a candidate for a therapeutic riding program in the future.
JULY 2008: Whiskey is our resident teddy bear. He's a sweet, loveable old guy and we enjoy having him around. He has been maintaining his weight and seems very happy and content just "hanging out" around the barn. We have retired him as a permanent resident here at the rescue to avoid any stress he might endure from being moved to another home and having to settle into a herd situation at his age.
