Progress Update....

Angel Horse Rescue Inc. received a grant from the Thoroughbred Charities of America in 2008 to be used for the purpose of installing additional fencing.  Together with the grant we have received from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in May of 2009, we are finally able to afford the materials to construct and install a much needed Intensive Care (ICU) corral as well as a Quarantine corral adjacent to our barn.  Currently, we utilize portable corral panels to create a small turn out area for our ICU cases and quarantine for incoming new arrivals.  The new permanent corrals will offer a much larger area for exercise as well as provide a much safer alternative to the portable corral panels.

August 2009  Construction has begun!  Due to weeks of 100°+ heat and lack of rain, we have had to postpone construction for fear of heat stroke to the workers digging post holes, etc. and to prevent a potential grass fire from sparks emitted by the welder.  Temperatures are now in the 80's and we have gotten some rain.  All of the post holes have been dug and we are working on setting the posts in concrete.  Once that job is finished, we will schedule the welder to come out to weld up the pipe fence rails and install the gates.

September 2009  The corrals are up!  We are very excited to finally have these wonderful new paddocks for the horses.  We still have a fair amount of finish work to do including welding additional clips to secure the rails to the posts, cut off the tops of the posts, cap the posts and last, but not least, paint the fence to inhibit rust and deterioration so it will last a lifetime.
